UNT Students "Take Flight" at Girls Inc.

Each year, volunteers provide thousands of hours of service to Girls Inc. of Tarrant County.  Their generous gift of time (and dedication) helps us provide quality programs to the girls we serve throughout the county.  Recently, students from UNT visited Girls Inc. as a part of their participation in the “UNT Take Flight Job Shadowing Program”.  It is a 1-5 day job shadowing experience that provides students with the opportunity to observe and network with professionals, investigate a career field, clarify career goals, and function within a work environment.

Several students visited with Girls Inc. staff and learned about their job roles.  Some of the students shared their thoughts about their experiences and Girls Inc.

“I really appreciate the opportunity and gained some valuable knowledge. It’s very encouraging to job-shadow someone who is so dedicated to a great cause. I hope to see you soon when I start volunteering.” -- Kristen

“Thank you for the chance to see the amazing things Girls Inc. does for young ladies! These girls are smart, charming, and fun to be around! Thank you for working with UNT to provide students like me a chance to see how an impactful organization such as Girls Inc. is run. I had a lot of fun. It was a rewarding experience!” --  Elizabeth

Girls Inc. has a number of volunteer opportunities available that include (but not limited to) assisting with sports clinics, 5K Races/Walks, fundraisers, administrative duties, and weekly programs.  If you are interested in volunteering with a dynamic team, please contact us.  We will be more than happy to speak to you and help you find the perfect opportunity within the organization.

Special thanks to all of the UNT students who volunteered with us recently.  We appreciate your enthusiasm and we look forward to seeing you again!
